Slovo i Chas (Word and Time) is an open-access journal of academic literary criticism that publishes articles and essays covering a wide range of issues related to different fields of literary studies, namely: history of the Ukrainian literature, modern literary theory, comparative studies, history of foreign literatures.

We aim to promote the development of Ukrainian literary criticism and its integration into the European scholarly society.
The task of the journal is to maintain high standards of academic literary criticism, to secure conditions for free communication and exchange of research results, to generate and promote studies in the current areas of philology.
The journal has over 40 general headings used for systematizing materials from various research spheres. In particular, these are “Theoretical Issues”, “20th century”, “Ad fontes!”, “Present times”, “Shevchenko Studies”, “Comparative Studies”, “Foreign Literature”, “Postcolonial Studies”, “Gender Studies”, “Context”, “Début”, “Reviews” etc. In addition to research contributions on history of literature, it includes the topical headings archival (“Scripta manent”) and relevant current events (“Our Presentations”, “Our Chronicle”, “In Institute of Literature”). The other ones may concern some especially debatable or thorny issues and offer a scholar’s special view (“Discussion”, “View”, “Letter to the Editors”).
The publication is free of charge.
The publisher of the journal Slovo i Chas is the Publishing House “Akademperiodyka” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The publisher’s role is assigned by the instruction of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated 24.03.2022 No. 158 “On determining the Publishing House ‘Akademperiodyka’ of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as the publisher of scientific and scholarly journals, the preparation and publication of which is carried out within the framework of the Program of Support for Journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”.
