An explanatory and translation encyclopedic dictionary is the first of its kind terminological dictionary offering alongside with the Ukrainian exposition of the term’s content its translation (occasionally several versions of its translation) into English. A distinctive feature of the dictionary is the textual illustration the terms’ usage in the internationally recognized research papers. This brings about the expansion of the source base of the dictionary and increases its informativeness highlighting deeper meanings and implications relevant for specific sociocultural circumstances. The dictionary demonstrated the variability of the English sociolinguistic terminology and reveals the importance of the ethno-cultural context for its apprehension and correct translation. It also enables to trace the peculiarities of definitions and explanations of individual terms given by different authors.
