This book is the story of a military medic who participated in combat operations directly, lived next to the soldiers, and noted all the events accurately. This is a non-fiction story about the heroic defenders of Avdiivka, who held the defense for two years in one of the most fierce areas in Donbas during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. The book is written in bright, lively language and fascinates with its simplicity and frankness. Its pages debunk a lot of illusions and show the war through the eyes of a simple soldier without embellishment and false propaganda and, however, without cinematic pompous “brutality” and complete negativity. In 2024, “A Story Worth Hearing” was awarded the All-Ukrainian Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Literary Prize in the “Fictional Prose” nomination.
